Thank you for your request for information below.  The Ministry will
consider and respond to your request in accordance with the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act).

 

“I would like to request any reports or documents that is currently held
my MoE which relates to school closures or consolidation. For example:

1. Reports that recommends school consolidations or assessing the benefits
of closing small or rural schools in various parts of New Zealand or 
documents that identifies economies of scale or efficiency gain with such
closures.

2. List of schools that has been closed or merged since 2003.

3. Copy of document 'network review' which was published in early 2000s.”

 

The Act allows up to 20 working days for a response, making 31 October
2019 the latest date for our response to you.  If more than 20 working
days are needed due to the potential workload involved in answering your
request, we will notify you accordingly.

 

Please note, the Ministry may publicly release on our website the response
to your request five days after you have received it. Any personal
information will be removed.

I would like to have a chat with you about what you have asked for.  In
particular your request for reports that recommend school consolidations
or assessing the benefits of closing small or rural schools in various
parts of New Zealand or  documents that identifies economies of scale or
efficiency gain with such closures.

 

This will require considerable collation and research and may even be
declined under section 18 of the OIA 1982. 

If I could be clearer about what you want it would make it easier and we
can hopefully provide something that is helpful.
