Dear Department of Internal Affairs,

This is a request under OIA Act.

I understand there are many lottery committee that make decision on various grants application, however the member sitting on the committee are unable to be found at any government website. I did tried "Community matters" website, but able to find their information. Can you please let me know why their information are not public available? Given they are making lots of big grants decision, I think the public deserve to know who they are. Also can you please forward me any internal papers/memos that discuss this matter. If it has not been discuss internally, may I raised that to Lottery Grants Board for their discussion.

Yours faithfully,

john luke

Dear Mr Luke

This email is in reply to your follow up email of 22 November 2019
regarding how the names of the members of the Lottery Grants Board
Distribution Committees (Committees) are made publically available. The
OIA response noted that the names of the members of the Committees are
made publically available in the Lottery Grants Board Annual Report. The
Annual Report is made available on the Parliament website and is the
Department’s website ([1]www.communitymatters.govt.nz) links to this.

As Secretary to the Lottery Grants  Board I have considered the issues you
raised and whether the names of the Committee members could be publicised
in another way. I consider that providing the names of committee members
within the Lottery Grants Board Annual Report is the appropriate way to
publicise the names of the Committee members. This approach provides
transparency and the appropriate administration level for the Department.

The Department of Internal Affairs administers Lottery funding on behalf
of the Board, including liaising with Committee members if organisations
have questions on their applications and decisions.

Thank you for writing.

Ngâ mihi
