Request for Information on Parent Residency Visa

A KS made this Official Information request to Iain Lees-Galloway

The request was successful.

From: A KS

Dear Iain Lees-Galloway,

My question is regarding Parent residency visa which is temporarily on hold for EOI selection.

In other OIA request , MBIE informed that the "Information about the future of the category has not yet been taken to the Cabinet for final approval"

Here's the link to OIA request response by MBIE

https://fyi.org.nz/request/10624-parents...

I have following two questions :-

1:- Firstly, could you please tell what is the planned/ tentative date/month when the information will be/expected to be presented to the cabinet for final approval.

2: Secondly, would you like to provide any other update on status/progress on this visa category issue?

3:- Thirdly, would you like to provide any other update related to any changes for parents and grandparents long term visitor visa?

Thank you in anticipation.

Yours faithfully,

A KS

Good afternoon,

I refer to your official information request dated 2 September 2019 for,

3:- Thirdly, would you like to provide any other update related to any changes for parents and grandparents long term visitor visa?

The OIA requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no later than 20 working days after the day we received your request. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit and we are therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our decision, to 7 October 2019.

This extension is necessary because consultations necessary to make a decision on your request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
