Tiananmen Square protests.

Andrew Crow made this Official Information request to Auckland University of Technology

The request was successful.

From: Andrew Crow

Dear Auckland University of Technology,

There has been a number of news articles today about canceling of an event marking the 30th anniversary of Tiananmen Square protests.

It has been said that AUT made this decision based on pressure from China's vice consul-general Xiao.

Under OIA I request:

1. All emails between AUT management (Vice-chancellor, chancellor, and member of their office) and China's vice consul-general Xiao Yewen or his staff.

2. Any internal documents, papers or emails related to the decision.

3. Any documents that show the booking of the room for the event.

4. Any other documents you feel would help the public understand how this decision was made and by who.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Crow

Very impressed with this answer.

Very fast, all the information asked for.

This is how OIA should work, many govt departments could learn from this.
