The results were:
· 63.2 percent of respondents believe that a person who receives a pension from an overseas government should not be entitled to receive the full rate of NZS,
· 19.9 percent think that a person who is receiving a pension from an overseas government should be able to receive the full rate of NZS.”

The questions were obviously loaded in favour of the MSD, they were drawing on people's wrong perceptions that those of us with overseas contributory social insurance pensions were double dipping, being greedy to expect 2 govt pensions and no doubt some with racist views towards immigrants.
The question should have asked if those who have paid for an overseas govt social insurance pension, no different from private insurance pensions should be able to keep them.
Who ever tabled these questions is arguably either uneducated to the facts regarding Tier 1 or Tier 2 govt pensions or biasing them in favour of the MSD.
MSD reviews of 2004/5 concluded that the treatment of overseas contributory pensions were unfair, out of date, discriminatory and inequitable.
The Human Rights Commission via its reviews by the Retirement Policy and Research Centre which also came to the same conclusions has called for change.
Chinese state pensions born out of the same social insurance contributions by both employers and employees are excempt the lawr that deprives us of the right to be similarly treated.
Therefore the MSD is quilyt of not just racism in favour of Chinese over Kiwis and other migrants who have the same kind of contributory pensions but of using legislation itself has proven unjust and discriminatory.
There is a push for justice and it will come, this is a state crime against nearly 100,000 elderly impoverished by corrupt politicians and even now Jacinda Ardern and Winston Peters who both promised change continue the injustice despite both party manifestos pushing for such change.
