Reasons for requiring Safari or Chrome to access new 105 reporting service

Dear New Zealand Police,

I am a New Zealand resident.

I would like to know why the new online 105 service (https://105.police.govt.nz/home) specifies using "Google Chrome or the latest version of Safari" (https://www.police.govt.nz/105info). This seems like an unusual restriction to place on a government service which is essentially a simple form.

If the reason is a technical limitation, I would like to know what browser-specific functionality is required to deliver the service, ie, what feature of Chrome or Safari the site depends on.

Dear New Zealand Police,

I'd like to remind you that 20 working days have passed since I made my request for information about why the new 105 online service specifies that it requires Chrome or Safari to use.

By law you are required to respond promptly and within 20 working days. I can hardly believe I'm writing this, but I urge the NZ Police to comply with the law.

This request is now very overdue. I don't understand why you haven't replied. If I don't hear shortly I will complain to the Ombudsman. Again, I find it surprising that the New Zealand Police will not comply with the law.
