    Dear Jessica

I have been asked to let you know that Police requires an extension of
time in which to respond to your request for the number of people arrested
in relation to prostitution; how many are prostitutes or customers, how
many identify as male and female.

This extension is pursuant to section 15A(1) of the Official Information
Act 1982, because the request necessitates consultations such that a
proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made within the
 original time limit.

Police require until 11/02/2019 to provide a substantive response to your
 request.

You have the right to ask the Office of the Ombudsman to review this
 extension.

    Dear Jessica,
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
Thanks for your Official Information Act (OIA) request dated 23 November
2018 in which you requested information on the number of people arrested
from 2008 - 2018 in relation to prostitution, broken down as follows:
·          How many are prostitutes?
·          How many are customers?
·          How many identify as female?
·          How many identify as male?
Police produce statistics on proceedings against offenders rather than
arrests. A proceeding counts each separate occasion when Police deal with
an alleged offender for one or more offences. The tables count all
proceedings that include an offence under the Prostitution Reform Act 2003
(irrespective of whether that was the most serious offence in the
proceeding). For statistical reporting purposes, proceedings are usually
classified according to the most serious offence on that occasion. This
offence might not be a Prostitution Reform Act 2003 offence. Please note
therefore that these figures may differ to figures published elsewhere.
Police does not distinguish whether an offender is a prostitute, a
customer or an operator. Therefore, we have attached a gender breakdown by
 the specific offence descriptions.
Unfortunately, due to changes in our statistical counting series, we are
unable to provide you with data before July 2009. The data provided to you
is for the period from July 2009 to October 2018.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via
 [email address].
If you are not satisfied with my response to your request you have the
right to complain to the Office of the Ombudsman and seek an investigation
 and review of my decision.
Yours sincerely,
Obert Cinco

As prostitution hasn't been a crime since 2003 I don't think the numbers are going to be large (unless you can expand on what "in relation" means).
