UB and DPB: cancellation reasons, recipients' other income
Heather Buchanan made this Official Information request to Ministry of Social Development
The request was successful.
From: Heather Buchanan
Dear Ministry of Social Development,
I'd like some yearly statistics for recipients of the Unemployment Benefit and Domestic Purposes Benefit, for 2007 through 2011, that I can read in tandem with the statistical reports you already share online.
In the statistical reports on the website, there are figures for the number of benefits cancelled in a given year, split out between those entering paid work and "other". Can I get numbers that split the "other" category, please? That is, each of a) transferring to another benefit, b) administrative (described on the site as used for benefit adjustment and reassessment), and c) the rest (on the site, example reasons are entering a relationship / leaving NZ / entering training).
I'd also like the numbers (each, per year) of UB and DPB recipients that at some point in that year declared other income (eg from part-time work), where income was insufficient to cancel their benefit entirely.
Thanks in advance.
Yours faithfully,
Heather Buchanan

Dear OIA_Requests (MSD),
If possible at this stage, I'd like to get the figures as described in my original email as they apply to Sickness Beneficiaries as well. Thanks very much.
