Good Morning,

Thank you for your e-mail requesting an update about the Parent Category.

As you may be aware, in October 2016, the previous Government made a decision to stop further selections of Parent Category Expressions of Interest. At this stage, no decisions have been made about starting selections again. I appreciate that the ongoing uncertainty is difficult for families. We are working on proposals and developing ways to mitigate issues with the operation of the category.

In regard to the second part of your email:

I am writing to acknowledge receipt and refer to your official information request dated 20 Jan 2019 for,

"Also, can you advise, as of 31 March 2017 how many applications were queued in the EOI pool for tier one?"

We have transferred your request to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) The information to which your request relates to is believed to be more closely connected with the functions of MBIE.

In these circumstances, we are required by section 14 of the Official Information Act to transfer your request. You will hear further from MBIE concerning your request.

Yours sincerely

Office Hon Iain Lees-Galloway
Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety
