Format of data on occupancy rate

Thai Quoc Khanh made this Official Information request to Northland District Health Board

The request was successful.

From: Thai Quoc Khanh

Dear Northland District Health Board,

I found your response on the bed occupancy (https://fyi.org.nz/request/7131-hospital...) in pdf format file. Since the statistic figures are presented as picture, it is difficult to transform to other formats to calculate the annual average.

If possible, could you please provide me the data on bed occupancy in excel or word file ? Besides, could you kindly explain me the differences in definitions: (1) Resourced beds, (2) physical beds, and (3) physical bed spaces.

Thank you very much for your help,

Yours faithfully,

Thai Quoc Khanh

Dear Thai

The bed occupancy data is in the attached spreadsheet.

The definitions we use for resourced beds, physical beds and physical bed spaces are as follows:
1. Resourced beds - a bed that is resourced to accommodate an admitted patient. Resources include staff, linen etc
2. Physical bed - a bed to accommodate a patient as opposed to a chair (used in renal dialysis units and cancer treatment units for patients receiving chemotherapy) or transport trolley.
3. Physical bed space - a space configured to accommodate a physical bed
