Dear Fenyi

Further to my email below, the information you have requested in part 3 of your request "Any statistics and other information your department holds regarding refugees" is not held by this office but is likely to be held by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.

Therefore I am transferring part 3 of your request under section 14(b)(i) of the Official Information Act 1982 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment for consideration.

As you suggested in your email, it would be helpful if you considered refining your request. For example you may wish to consider setting a time period for the advice you are requesting in parts 1 and 2 of your request.

You may be aware that a number of documents relating to refugees are already publically available on the MBIE website at http://www.mbie.govt.nz/info-services/im...

Yours sincerely

Private Secretary

From: Fenyi

Dear Kate Manners,

Thank you for your time on the phone yesterday. Following our conversation, I am happy to refine my request please.

Please can I have information - in particular briefings and advice, given to the Minister, from January 2015 onwards concerning refugees. Not including information publicly available on http://www.mbie.govt.nz/info-services/im... or the links you previously provided me with.

I am writing on how policy is determined in this area. So I am interested in what advice is provided to Ministers and how they make their decisions. If you have suggestions on how I can refine my request further in light of this, I am happy to discuss.

Many thanks and kind regards,

Fenyi
