FCV's investigated by MBIE
Graham Carter made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment
Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Graham Carter
Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,
We request the following information:
1. A list of all FCVs fishing in NZ waters in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
2. How many of those have or are being investigated by the (MBIE) Labour Inspectorate, since 2015.
3. Names of vessels investigated.
4. How many were involved in the payment of the $800,000 in back paid wages mentioned by MBIE (DoL's) Stu Lumsden on Radio NZ.
5. The total amount of back wages paid by each vessel.
6. Number of Japan Tuna Co vessels fishing in NZ waters in 2015/2016;
7. How many days they spent fishing each year.
8. Whether the MBIE (Labour Inspectorate) was investigating wages of other Japan Tuna Co vessels. If not why not?
9. Whether any investigation and or action has been taken against any other Japan Tuna Co vessels, and if what happened. We know one did a runner and MBIE couldn't find anyone to serve the papers on.
Yours faithfully,
Graham Carter
