Dear Sheldon Levet

I refer to your email of 4 April 2017 in which you request the following
under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA):

“a list of all successful, commercial applications (with permit number,
name of applicant, nature and exact quantity of export item) under Part 1
& Part 2 of the Strategic Goods List, for the financial years 2014/15,
2015/16.”

Extracting and reviewing the information you request requires a
significant amount of analysis and review from specialist staff. We have
provided similar information in the past and now know the effort it would
take to answer your request in full. There are around 900 applications for
permits to the Strategic Goods list per year. To reduce the risk of
potentially needing to refuse your request on grounds of substantial
collation and research, we would like to suggest that you more
specifically identify the information which you are seeking. For example,
you may wish to consider narrowing the timeframe of your request; and/or
limit your request to exclude:

·         Non-military sporting, and competition goods,  related
accessories (for example rifle scopes, and sound suppressors) and related
ammunition.

·         Commercial explosives used for mining and quarrying in the South
Pacific.

Kind regards
