Dear Chelsea Boyle
I refer to your request under the Official Information Act 1982 asking
“how many Wairarapa businesses went into liquidation last year”.
The Companies Register does not record the location of where a company is
operating. However, every company is required to have a registered office
address which may be the address of the business or it might be the
address for the company’s professional adviser. It should be noted that
even though a company may have a registered office address in the
Wairarapa area, this does not mean that the company is operating from that
area. Once a liquidator is appointed to a company, the liquidator will
change the registered office address to their own address.
In 2016, there were 15 companies which listed a registered office address
in the Wairarapa area prior to being placed into liquidation.
Yours faithfully
