Dear Ministry of Education,
I would like to know more about the Early Childhood Development Unit (ECDU) primarily:
- the years in which it was operational;
- the mandate of the ECDU;
- whether the ECDU took a holistic approach to ECD coherent with the global definition of ECD i.e. encompassing cognitive development, linguistic development, socio-emotional development, and physical growth (i.e. did it link services across the ministries of education, health and social services for example);
- the rationale behind the decision to move the ECDU from the Ministry of Social Development to the Ministry of Education; and
- the rationale behind the decision to dissolve the ECDU.
