Supporting documentation for use of timber wall linings in crowd ocupancies

Geoff Merryweather made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment

The request was successful.

From: Geoff Merryweather

Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,

With regard to
Determination 2015/010 (wall surface linings for a school hall)
Determination 2015/022 (surface linings at a function centre)
MBIE FAQ item: https://www.building.govt.nz/building-co...

Can you please provide the supporting documentation, calculations, reports or correspondence between the parties regarding the acceptance of wall linings with a higher group number than the Building Code allows (eg timber linings as group 3 instead of the required group 2s)

This may include (for example) the calculations or reports looking at tenability in the space as a result of the wall linings, or any discussions on the effect of these linings on the space and occupant safety and the Building Code compliance and how the limitations required for acceptance of a waiver were derived.

Yours faithfully,
Geoff Merryweather
