Dear W Shih

Thank you for your response.

Based on the material NZSIS holds, I must advise it is necessary for NZSIS to extend the time limit for responding to your request. The Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) requires that we advise you of our decision on this request no later than 20 working days after the day we received it.

We are therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our decision, by a further 120 working days. As provided for in section 15A of the OIA, the request is for a large quantity of official information or necessitates a search through a large quantity of information and meeting the original time limit would unreasonably interfere with the operation of the agency. Consultations necessary to make a decision on your request are also such that a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit. We will respond to your request as soon as possible but no later than 22 May 2017 (120 working days).

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.

Yours sincerely
NZSIS
