Regarding your request for video footage of fish discarding associated
with Operation Achilles

Dear Graham Carter

I refer to your request, OIA16-0278, under the Official Information Act
(OIA) 1982 for footage of potential discarding of fish associated with the
Ministry for Primary Industries compliance investigation known as
Operation Achilles.

MPI has decided that your request will be met with an excerpt of 15 hours
of the footage being made available, in line with section 16(1)e of the
OIA. Please note that approximately 1100 hours of video footage was
generated under Operation Achilles. The video footage we are making
available shows discarding of fish and the capture of two Hector’s
Dolphins, and is available at:
 [1]https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCV2HIKf...

MPI has taken the decision to release an excerpt of the footage because of
the time required to protect people’s privacy and format the footage for
the internet.

You may be aware that the Director-General of MPI has released the outcome
of the independent review into the circumstances surrounding the decision
not to prosecute potential fish dumping identified in Operation Achilles.
The report and additional information is available at

Regards

Stephanie Rowe
