Re: Rates Revenue by Local Board
Thank you for your request dated
4 June 2026, for information related to Rates Revenue.
The specific details of your request and our response are below.
Please provide a breakdown of the amount of general and targeted rates
rates revenue received for the 2025/26 financial year by each Local Board
area, corresponding to the total revenue from rates.
Please also provide the number of rating units for each Local Board area
for 2025.
The following table shows the actual rates revenue by local board for the 2025/2026 financial
year. The numbers do not add up to the total rates revenue shown in our financial
statements because. This is because our financial statements:
• include revenue from penalties which the numbers in the table below don’t
• include rates remissions which the numbers below don’t
• exclude revenue from council or CCO owned properties which the numbers below do
include
• may include rates applicable to a previous financial year which the numbers below
don’t
• include rates from utility rating units which the numbers below don’t include waste
management targeted rates from non-rateable properties which the numbers below
don’t
• include revenue from voluntary targeted rates (e.g. Retro-fit your home) which the
numbers below don’t.

Notes to the table:
• voluntary targeted rates (such as the Retrofit-your-home targeted rate and the
Electricity network resilience targeted rate), where the rates are set in accordance
with private agreements between the council and individual ratepayers, are excluded.
• rates revenue numbers include those paid by council or CCO owned properties and
are before remissions.
• non-rateable properties are excluded.
• rates revenue numbers exclude GST
• the numbers shown in the “No of properties” column are not exactly the number of
rating units. Where a rating unit has multiple land uses, for example contains a shop
downstairs and a residential unit upstairs, then this is be counted as one residential
property and one business property in.
