Subject: RE: Fuel shortage

Good Afternoon Darren

In the last 30 days across both refuse and recycling WCC fleets our usage was just over 23,000 litres

of diesel. This figure is slightly down on the previous period, but gives a fair representation of use.
Unfortunately as these are grouped together at this stage I do not have the ability to differentiate
between the different streams within the WCC collection.

The largest risk is suppliers run out, pumps run dry we are unable to fill trucks and operate.

To minimise this risk we are constantly speaking with our suppliers to ensure we can better predict
and prepare for areas that are facing shortages or delays in replenishment, with updates being
provided daily to our operational teams. We are encouraging all drivers to top up their tanks when
able. To add to this we have contingency of a 10,000 litre tank at our Seaview yard which should
provide some continuity across both our municipal and commercial operation for 3-4 days’ supply at
least. We have also engaged other providers and sourced fuel cards to allow us to fill at these
suppliers in case of emergency and scarcity.

(1987))
Another significant risk is to our staff and being able to gain access to fuel for their personal vehicles
to get them to and from work as well as the financial impact it will have on both the business and our
Act
workforce and the real possibility for some, that they may not be able to afford to fill their tanks.

In response to this we have begun discussions with the team around what financial support we can
offer and are looking at other means such as ride sharing, or company vehicles being used to shuttle
our staff to enable collections to continue.

This is the state of play currently, should there be little improvement and rations are needed, we
Information
would ask that council support us and our staff as an essential service and that we are still able to
access the volumes we need to ensure collections take place.

In the event of any rationing required as always Refuse will have priority over Recycling and any
decisions to stop services will be made in consultation with Wellington City Council representatives as
Official
they occur.

Please reach out if I can assist further.

Hi Richard
Hope you are all good, WCC is gathering info on fuel to look at how risks of shortage etc could impact on

What they want to know is:
