Does MFe recommend counsels use RPC 8.5 when mapping high-risk hazard areas?

Warwick Schaffer made this Official Information request to Ministry for the Environment

The request was partially successful.

From: Warwick Schaffer

Dear Ministry for the Environment,

Does MFe recommend counsels use RPC 8.5 (ssp5 8.5) to modeling sea level rise when mapping high-risk hazard zones?

If not, which scenario would be more appropriate.

Yours faithfully,
Warwick Schaffer

Dear OIA,

Thank you for your reply but it does not really answer my specific question which relates to cases where only one scenario can be used. The example was the mapping of high hazard flood areas. There can only be one line on the map delineating the high hazard area and therefore one scenario used.

Again when mapping high hazard flood areas, do you recommend that councils use the 8.5 scenario and if not which one should be used?

Yours sincerely,

Warwick Schaffer
