Subject: The Colville Project
Hi Corey,
Thanks for your time.
The Colville Project is a community project to build a wellbeing and education centre and
housing on a 36Ha rural property near Colville, to serve the northern Coromandel region. The
property is mostly treed, with some kauri forest, some mature pine forest and some
INFORMATION
regenerating bush. There is a stream flowing through the property with pools big enough to
provide a water supply for fire-fighting. Our local fire chief has told me we don't need to provide
a large pond because they use the nearby sea or river for filling monsoon buckets.
We have been told already that we'll need a 25,000 litre water tank at each house and for each
500M2 of community building, but it would be good if you can confirm this. There will of course
have to be good road access to all buildings as part of the development approval. If we need to
provide an alternative access that could be very difficult, if not impossible. I'll attach a plan for
you.
Other questions:
Is there an area that needs to be kept clear for fire appliances at each building/tank?
Is there a minimum distance that needs to be cleared of trees/bushes around each building?
Sizes for outlet fittings at the tanks - 50mm or 100mm?
Finally, is there a written specification or legislation that covers our situation?
Regards,
Rick Lambourne
