Dear University of Auckland,
I am requesting the following information regarding applications for promotion to professor reviewed by the University of Auckland Staffing Committee in the years 2021-2025, inclusive:
The total number of applications for promotion to Professor for each year.
A breakdown of how many of the applications were made by associate professors who identify as male, female, Māori, Pasifika, and Pākeha, respectively.
The total number of applications for promotion to Professor that were granted and denied each year (ie, that the UASC recommended be promoted or recommended not to be promoted to the Vice Chancellor).
A breakdown of how many of each category (grants and denials) were from staff who identify as male, female, Māori, Pasifika, and Pākeha, respectively.
The total number of applications for promotion to Professor in which the applicant submitted a request for consideration under the Achievement Relative to Opportunity policy (hr-118) (ARtO).
A breakdown of how many of these ARtO applications were submitted by staff who identify as male, female, Māori, Pasifika, and Pākeha, respectively.

Dear requester,
I refer to your request of 19 December 2025. As consultations necessary to
make a decision on your request are such that a response cannot reasonably
be given within the original time limit, the University has extended the
time limit for your request by 20 working days under section 15A(1)(b) of
the OIA.
The new maximum time limit for the University’s response is 10 March 2026;
we will respond to your request as soon as reasonably practicable.
You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are
dissatisfied with this extension.
