Hi Kev, thanks, we can supply Angloco MAN appliances for training whenever you need
them, just let us know where and when. These will not necessarily be the exact truck that
the brigade will put into service but will be the same as far as pump training goes.

Below is an update I sent to Mark Meehan on Friday in regard to the new trucks.
INFORMATION
We need access to the MANs to do the train the trainers. We can fly people in to complete this
however need some time to get the logistics, including travel arranged. It would help a great deal
if we can have some confirmed timelines. I also understand there is some adjustments needed
to the learning material.
As these trucks are rolled out where and when are the trucks they are replacing being cascaded.
Is there some maintenance/servicing/refurbishing to be done. Again the more detail we have the
smother this will go.

RELEASED UNDER THE OFFICIAL
Attached is the revised roll out for the new Appliances.
The trial Scania rollout
Parnell and Grey Lynn training begins Monday the 15th December to 22nd December then
be released for operations.
Hamilton Angloco Scania will be in Hamilton on Monday with some work still to be
completed. It is expected this truck will be ready the week of Christmas. There is no
availability of trainers over this period. Training planned to start from 12th January. As this
is the same pump as the first Angloco MAN we are looking at getting the training done to
cover both trucks at the same time and this will enable a short famil when Te Rapa 431
available.
Manurewa Angloco Scania is not ready for release to us, at of 11am this morning. When
1982
we have the date we will plan the training then.
Angloco MAN rollout.
ACT
Attached is the revised training plan. As the first trucks come available to us this plan will start.
Train the trainers first for the Wellington and Christchurch trainers. The earlier we have
the dates of these the easier the logistics of getting travel and accommodation and
releases etc. The train the trainer is 3 days.
Train the trainers for the rest of the country (note Auckland has been completed)
As the trainers come online then we will be able to train the crews.
There is some expectation that all drivers whether they are based in that station or likely
to work overtime are to be included in this training. That will make the rollout extensive
INFORMATION
Note I will be the point of contact up to the 24th December (return on the 12th Jan) Ian Wakeley
will be back on the 12th and will take that back over.
The other important thing to note is the cascade of where the trucks these 33 trucks are going to
is really important as some of the stations they are going to will also require familirisations.

Subject: FW: Type 3 464 ladders
Kia ora Koutou,
Mike had requested that we confirm the current list of Type 3 appliances with 464 ladders, and whether operations is increasing the number of
appliances with them, if so which appliance(s).
This is a matter of urgency as this has an impact on the cascade being drawn up.
Mike has also provided some detail of the impacts if we haven’t provided and accurate appliance list.

Subject: Type 3 464 ladders
INFORMATION
Importance: High
Kia ora Bruce
As you know I am working on a draft Type 3 cascade plan, and the impact of 464 ladders is one consideration that we need to take into
account.
Fleet generally knows which current Type 3 appliances have 464 ladders, however I have also heard of other plans to fit Type 3s with 464
ladders when those Type 3s don’t currently have them. OFFICIAL
The five proposals I’ve heard of are Blenheim and Nelson (apparently 464 ladders have already been bought for these two appliances but no
464 gantries available for the current appliances), and Silverdale when it gets an MAN (not sure where the gantry is planned to come from nor
from what budget(s) the ladder and gantry are expected to come from). Whangarei and Howick have also been mentioned.
THE
You may be aware that the new Angloco MANs can all take 464s with a minor bracket change, the Fraser MANs can all take a 464 but need a
bespoke gantry to do so, only a very small number of Scania P310s can carry a 464 as they have special bodywork to do so. Earlier models can
be adapted to carry a 464 but require a bespoke gantry. I am not aware of any spare 464 gantries available.
To further complicate things, the new 464 ladder is different to the older 464s so existing 464 gantries need to be modified to fit a new 464
should that be required.
My request to you is can you please provide a definitive list of Type 3s that OR believes should carry 464s so that I take that into account in the
UNDER
cascade, noting that the implementation of any new proposals to fit 464s will be subject to the budget being available to do so.
Thanks
Mike
