I refer to your Official Information Act request dated 5 June 2025
You have requested information regarding admission to the 2025 Health Sciences Professional Programmes, and referred to the 'HSFY alternative' category, which does not exist. There are three categories of admission for Health Sciences Professional Programmes: Health Sciences First Year (HSFY); Graduate; and Alternative.
Further information on each of these categories is available via the following webpage on the University website: https://www.otago.ac.nz/healthsciences/s.... These pages indicate the requirements to be considered for admission under the Alternative category. For example, there are no minimum average academic scores under the Alternative category.
We will continue to process your request but do feel free to get back in touch if you wish to clarify anything.
Ngā mihi
Bill

Dear UoO - Official Information Act,
I seek clarification on "No waitlist offers were made for BPhty". You define first round offer as "those who do not receive offers off the waitlist" however, I know someone from the HSFY general category who got an offer from the waitlist?
Yours sincerely,
Zoe

I refer to you request for clarification of 4 June 2025 regarding the University of Otago's response to your Official Information Act dated 30 June 2025.
Your request concerned the Health Science First Year (HSFY) general category. We can advise that the University's Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPhty) programme for 2025 did have a waitlist. Waitlist offers were made to Single Programme Preference (SPP) applicants and HSFY equity group applicants, which resulted in all places in the 2025 programme being filled. We can confirm that no waitlist offers were made to applicants via the HSFY general category (which in the case of BPhty excludes both SPP and equity group).
We hope this clarification is helpful. If you are not satisfied with our response to your information request, section 28(3) of the Act provides you with the right to ask an Ombudsman to investigate and review this response. However, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss any concerns with you first.
Ngā mihi
