Thank you for your request for official information, received on 21
January 2025 for:
"-total by year (and by region/DHB if possible) of children 0 - 8 years
old enrolled for publicly funded dental care since 2017.
-total by quarter and region/DHB of enrolled children who are overdue by 6
months, 1 year+ for an appointment with a school/community dental
service."
In order to provide you with the information requested, could you please
clarify the information you are seeking-
* Do you want the two measures by district/region, or a national total?
* What timeframe do you want the overdue data for?
– your request states by quarter (but we only hold annual data
centrally, and to note we only hold the annual data for Calendar Years
2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
As the timeframes for response do not pause while we are waiting for this
clarification, I would be grateful if you could get back to us by 5.00PM
Tuesday 18 February. If I do not hear back from you by this date, we will
have to proceed with your request on the basis of the information we do
have readily available.
Ngâ mihi,
Maree

Dear hnzOIA,
Please can you supply by district/region and I'm happy to have from 2019 if that is what you have available.
Yours sincerely,

Thank you for your email dated 17 February 2025 to refine your request for
official information, received on 21 January 2025 for:
"-total by year (and by region/DHB if possible) of children 0 - 8 years
old enrolled for publicly funded dental care since 2017.
-total by quarter and region/DHB of enrolled children who are overdue by 6
months, 1 year+ for an appointment with a school/community dental
service."
Based on our preliminary work, point 2 would require a significant amount
of collation and consultation across the 20 Health NZ local areas.
Therefore, in the interests of providing you with information in a timely
manner, we would like to give you the opportunity to amend or clarify the
scope of this part of your request in order for us to determine if the
information is available in a manner that is more readily retrievable from
our system.
To assist you, the information we can provide at a national level is the
total number of enrolled children 0 – 8 years old who are overdue, by
calendar year from 2019 – 2023 and by district/region, that we believe
would satisfy this part of your request.
We appreciate you are under no obligation to amend your request, but
requests that require substantial collation may be refused under section
18(f) of the Official Information Act 1982.
We want to work with you to avoid this and ensure we are able to provide a
response that best meets your needs.
Please let us know before Tuesday 25 February 2025 whether you are
prepared to amend or clarify point 2 of your request and, if so, how.
We look forward to receiving your response.
