Dear Otago Polytechnic,
Otago Polytechnic is hosting online training for midwives that introduces them to a Scope of Practice for Midwifery that was gazetted in April 2024 to come into force on 1 October. See https://midwiferycouncil.health.nz/commo...
Please can you provide communications between the Midwifery Council and the Polytechnic that: address the following
the Scope is the subject of an official complaint to the Regualtory Review Select Committee (RRSC) of Parliament and an altered Scope of Practice is under consideration. OR
the Scope of Practice may not comply with the law and may be withdrawn OR
describes why the training is to continue despite the official complaint OR
Lays out the expectations of the RRSC with respect to the Scope being the subject of an official complaint.
