Dear OIA_requests (WHAIKAHA),

Please accept my apologies for the delay replying, i was unaware a request for additional information had been made.
First request is the title of the request should read "allocated post schooling" -my bad on the keyboard.
Clarfication on point one, utilising the terminology Ongoing Resource Scheme (ORS) was intended to make a clear request relevant to the terminology that is used in a school/ education setting, for those supports being carried over/moved into a post-school setting, either a residential provider, or day service type provision. To the best of my knowledge the term ORS (High, Very High) are determiining factors for what supports, services and funding a person can receive when they leave the school setting. The reason for asking this question of Whaikaha, and now through MSD is that Disability Support Services have, or are being moved to MSD -hence the expectation that the information would be held in this portfolio.
The intention of the OIA request was to understand the funding allocated to an individual once they have left school and entered the adult world.

Yours sincerely,

Craig Nielsen

I refer to your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 3 October, seeking information about funding allocated to an individual once they have left school and entered the adult world. Thank you for providing this additional clarification.

We have transferred the part of your request relating to Very High Needs funding to the Ministry of Social Development (MSD). This is because information to which your request relates is not held by us but is believed to be held by MSD.

The aspect being transferred is:

The per-person funding rates for citizens eligible for community or residential supported living (VHN).

In these circumstances, we are required by section 14 of the OIA to transfer your request.

You will hear further from MSD concerning your request in due course.

Ngā mihi

Kia ora Craig,

VHN funding is handled via MSD, so I have transferred your request to them.

Disability Support Services funding is different (formerly managed by Whaikaha - Ministry of Disabled People, now managed by Disability Support Services (DSS), a business unit within MSD). You can learn more about DSS funded supports and services here: https://www.whaikaha.govt.nz/support-and... If you are interested in data about any of these specific supports/services, let me know and we can progress as a separate request. We are currently supporting DSS with OIAs at the moment so you can make the request to this email address 😊

Ngā mihi

This request has come to Disability Support Services (DSS) for response, as a business unit within MSD. DSS does not record ORS status, so is unable to answer your request as it stands (section 18(g) of the Official Information Act 1982 applies). It is also worth noting that funding packages provided by DSS depend on the disabled person's specific circumstances.

If you could please rephrase your request/refine what you are looking for, it would be appreciated. Are you perhaps seeking to learn the average cost for residential care/supported living for individuals over the age of 21?

Appreciate your advice.
