I refer to your official information request dated 21 July 2024 requesting monthly data related to bus route 
997 between 1 July 2023 – 30 June 2024. 
 
The monthly payments that are made to Operators are derived from taking the annual cost of delivering the 
services and dividing it into 12 equal monthly payments. 
 
These monthly payments are also subject to indexation application in accordance with Waka Kotahi (NZTA) 
procurement rules. As a result, the base monthly payments made for the operation of bus route 997 is 
subject to quarterly indexation hence the cost of services fluctuates every three months.
