Un-redacted copy of the Pfizer contract for supply of Covid-19 Vaccine
Sarah Preece made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Sarah Preece to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Ministry of Health,
As a matter of public interest*, please provide an unredacted copy of the Pfizer Contract for supply of Covid-19 vaccine.
* the matter of public interest:
Where tax dollars are spent by the govt on behalf of tax payers, it is a matter of public interest that the contractual terms and conditions of any significant purchase are fully and openly disclosed.
The price, terms and conditions should not be a matter of 'sensitivity' to business interests, and nor should any such so-called sensitivities be prioritised over and above full, open disclosure and transparency to the paying public.
It is unreasonable to claim that this matter is not a matter of 'public interest' when so many members of the public have and are so clearly seeking to know these details.
If even 1 member of the public seeks this information there is evidence of public interest.
The NZ govt should not be doing business with contractors who are not willing or able to engage in full, open disclosure. It is important that the protection of supposed competitive advantage or so-called sensitive business interests are not used as a ruse, to protect villany while witholding information from the public that is a matter critical to life/death health decisions (RIP Rory Nairn and others).
Esecially where the product (Covid 19 vaccine) is going to be the subject of intense pressure and propoganda to be uptaken by the public, and where the Govt promote it as 'safe', 'effective' and 'socially responsible', and where the right to decline uptaking it has severe negative repercussions (e.g. loss of livelihood and employment due to mandate), the public have an interest and a right to know whether the terms, price and conditions of the contract are reassuring (or not) of claims made that the product is not 'experimental' and where safety and efficacy are as assured in the contract, as claims made about it in the media drive to insist that all uptake it.
It is in the public interest to know whether or not the govt is lying to them while lying in bed with big pharma. And, unless (or because) the govt and MOH are corrupt bureacracies who seek to further their captured relationship with big pharma over and above the public interest to the contrary, there is every good reason for Pfizer and the Govt (MOH) to prove that this has not been the case.
Yours faithfully,
Sarah Preece

Kia ora Sarah,
The information you have requested is withheld in full under the following
sections of the Act:
o Section 9(2)(b)(ii), where its release would likely unreasonably
prejudice the commercial position of the person who supplied the
information;
o Section 9(2)(ba)(ii), to protect information that is subject to an
obligation of confidence and making it available would likely damage
the public interest; and
o Section 9(2)(c), to avoid prejudice to measures to protect the health
or safety of the public.
I have considered the countervailing public interest in release in making
this decision and consider that it does not outweigh the need to withhold
at this time.
