Animals welfare concerns about a scam rescue

Cher Ryker made this Official Information request to Ministry for Primary Industries

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry for Primary Industries should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

Animals in Danger at NZ Bird Rescue!

We need your attention and help! NZ Bird Rescue, previously known as Cornwall Park Bird Rescue and Magpie Rescue and Rehabilitation, is putting animals in harm's way. Despite its name, this organization is failing to provide adequate care and attention to the animals in its custody.

As someone who has witnessed the neglect and suffering of these animals firsthand, I am outraged and heartbroken. Many birds have been left in boxes without food, water, or medical attention, and some have even died as a result. The organization's leader, Jody Trewheeler, has prioritized her own interests over the welfare of the animals, and has ignored warnings and advice from experienced animal care professionals.

We have reported our concerns to government agencies and animal rescues, but nothing has been done to address this situation. It is unacceptable that defenseless animals are being put in harm's way, and we demand action to stop this cruelty!

- Immediate action to protect the animals in NZ Bird Rescue's custody
- An investigation into the organization's practices and treatment of animals
- Accountability for those responsible for the neglect and suffering of these animals

Let us work together to raise awareness and demand action to stop animal cruelty!"

Yours faithfully,
Cher Ryker
