Northwest High School

Mrs E Ellis made this Official Information request to Ministry of Education

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Mrs E Ellis to read a recent response and update the status.

From: Mrs E Ellis

Dear Ministry of Education,

How are the negotiations going for NorthWest Auckland to finally get a High School? Parents and children of the NorthWest are desperate for this.

More intensification is being proposed for our area (just the one proposed development "PC-100" will effectively double the population of Riverhead alone!) These intensified developments shouldn't be going in if there is no where for our children to go to school.

Our "local, in zone school" Massey High, is reportedly already at capacity now. Our "local in zone school is 2 hour, 40 minute walk, along a Highway with no footpath, and then along a busy State Highway. No bike lanes, no transport lanes or bus lanes to make the journey safer or shorter along this strip of the journey. How much further will our children end up having to travel to high school? What needs to happen for this to be made a priority for us?

What is the MOE plan for the current Year 6-8 students in the NorthWest areas of Riverhead/Kumeu/Huapai/Waimauku, etc?

How do you plan to expand Massey High School when the new developments at Red Hills etc are completed?

Yours faithfully,
Elaine E.
