From: Erika Whittome

Dear Health New Zealand,
I am requesting information from the New Zealand Heart and Lung Transplant Service .

Would you kindly please provide information on the above service in regards to its eligibility criteria around Covid 19 vaccination, namely:

1. Is Covid 19 vaccination required for a patient to be eligible for heart and lung transplant service at any stage of the eligibility process?

2. If yes, what date did this requirement begin ?

3, Please share the written policy and template letters for this requirement.eg any generic clinical letters.

4. Please share the minutes, emails, memos and any correspondence on how this vaccination requirement came about.

5. Please provide the information on how vaccination protects the patient from catching Covid 19 in your care. Kindly take into consideration the 2.5 million case count at present on Te Whatu Ora's website which is rendering the covid-19 vaccine being in effective with drug failure.

6. Please provide the information on how the vaccinations reduce transmission or passing on Covid. The MoH said for a vaccinated person, "we must assume there is still a risk of transmission" here in October 2021: https://web.archive.org/web/202110200607...

Furthermore, in another MOH official information request #H202110912, it states that "initial trials of the Pfizer vaccine did not measure efficacy against transmission" here https://www.health.govt.nz/system/files/... which was in Sept 2021.

7. Please share the number of people you have refused for eligibility for NZ Heart and Lung Transplant Service on the grounds that they are unvaccinated.

8. Are the hospital wards for NZ Heart and Lung transplant services ones with negative air pressure and PPE entry requirements?

Yours faithfully,

Erika Whittome

Has the question been asked, "are there currently anyone on the transplant list that are unvaccinated?"

If so, "when were they put on the list?"

"What criteria did they have to pass to become eligible to be put on the list?"

What happens if the patient or support person are exempt from having the covid 19 vaccinations? Will they still be eligible to have a lung transplant in New Zealand?

Thank you for doing this OIA. Is it connected to the absolutely astonishing case being investigated by Kirsten Murfitt?
