Neither the Ministry of Education or the Ombudsman are responding.

Telephoned Ombudsman to follow up on complaint, apparently case was allocated to "Richard" on the 12th although I have heard nothing since the 3rd June when I received email acknowledging receipt of complaint.

"Richard" was on the phone, left voicemail for him to call me, no response as yet.

Spoke to Richard Ruddenflau today, he advised that the Ombudsman has written to the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Education requesting response regarding why the request has been delayed.

The Ministry is obliged to respond to the Ombudsman within 2 weeks.

Apparently a letter from the Ombudsman was sent to me on Friday but I have not received it as yet.

Dear Susan Dey,

Thank you for your response to my request, I have provided an address via email for the delivery the partial response.

I understand that prior to refusing a request under section 18(f) of the Official Information Act you have a duty to consult with me as to whether the form of the request could be modified so as to remove the reason for refusal; for example the request could possibly be made more specific.

There is also the possibility under the Act that the time frame could be further extended or a charge fixed.

I do not believe you have fulfilled your obligations under the Act in these respects.

I thank you in advance for your response.

Yours sincerely,

Glenn Pearce
