Correspondence, re: Complaints, Future Buller Team

Kevin Smith made this Official Information request to University of Canterbury

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Kevin Smith to read a recent response and update the status.

From: Kevin Smith

Dear University of Canterbury,

Future Buller is a collaboration between UC and Buller District Council.

The Future Buller team traveled about the Buller region in Nov and Dec 2023.
Tracey Hatton and Nohah Forde were two staff that attended the meetings.

Eight meetings were held and the attendance numbers were generally single digit, the last meeting at Reefton was understood to have zero public involved.

Could I please request copies of the correspondence related to the tour and in particular any feedback or reporting from the team.

There were formal complaints laid with both WCRC and BDC over the presentations. The earlier ones were combined with a WCRC TTPP team.
One complaint was laid on the grounds of Economy, Effectiveness and Intent.
Many participants thought the process wasteful. There was general dissatisfaction.

I am requesting copies of any reports, including the complaints, and how they were dealt with.

Yours faithfully,

Kevin Smith

Dear Information and Records Management,

I have already requested this, and other, detail from the BDC.

The history of their replies has had me seek alternate methods,

The University of Canterbury is subject to the Official Act ruling and I was expecting to see a reply here about their involvement with Future Buller, the Terms of Reference, and financial base for the collaboration.

The road trip must have been expenditure from the University and a report on the activity would have been provided.
This was over three months ago now, given the summer holiday would have intervened.

I very much doubt the BDC would have any of this detail.

Yours sincerely,

Kevin Smith

Thank you for providing further clarification on specifically what you are looking for under this request, which UC understands to be for the following:

+ALc- Terms of reference for Future Buller Project
+ALc- When the project started
+ALc- Any report from Nohah, Tracy or Tom on this project
+ALc- How this project has been financed

Upon seeking further advice on how to best manage the clarification of your request, your clarification has been provided to the Buller District Council (BDC). As the request has been formally transferred to BDC, it is most appropriate that they look into these matters, as the obligation to respond to the request now rests with the BDC. If BDC need to consult with UC as part of processing your request, they are aware that they are welcome to do so.
