From: John Stevenson
Dear University of Otago,
I would like to request a breakdown of the applications, offers, and admissions into the 2024 MB ChB and BDS programs. I would like this to be broken up into the 3 categories and further into each sub-category. I would also like to know the minimum and median weighted GPA/ HSFY Top 7 average of those who were offered a place into the programs
Yours faithfully,
John

I refer to your information request dated 25 March 2024 made under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). You have requested:
" I would like to request a breakdown of the applications, offers, and admissions into the 2024 MB ChB and BDS programs. I would like this to be broken up into the 3 categories and further into each sub-category. I would also like to know the minimum and median weighted GPA/ HSFY Top 7 average of those who were offered a place into the programs"
The Act requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no later than 20 working days after the date your request was received. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit. We are therefore writing to notify you, pursuant to section 15A of the Act, of an extension of the time to make our decision in respect of your request, by a further 5 working days – to 2 May 2024. However, we will endeavour to provide the information sooner if possible.
This extension is necessary to allow for consultations necessary to make a decision on your request. We also note that a key member of staff who holds some of the information that you have requested has been on extended leave from the office due to illness. We thank you for your patience and apologise for the delay. We will endeavour to provide our response sooner if possible.
If you are not satisfied with our extension of time, you have the right to make a complaint to the Ombudsman under section 28(3) of the Act. However, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss any concerns with you first.
Ngâ mihi
Joey
