Harder Citizenship requirements
Sam Malik made this Official Information request to Brooke van Velden
The request was successful.
From: Sam Malik
Dear Brooke van Velden,
Can you please explain why NZ has hardest and longest wait time to obtain citizenship? While Australia gives it out one year after residency and Canada after 3 years (including the .5 times time spent on visa) then why NZ is discouraging people to get granted a citizenship to avoid being called outsider on a visa.
Any changes on plate to be made?
Any improvements in processing times or we still going with that turtle pace of labour govt?
Any info in scope that outlines the reason why it’s necessary to have people wait and live as residents for 5 years before they can apply for citizenship here in NZ.
Yours faithfully,
Sam Malik
