Dear Auckland Council,

My request pertains to all wells and groundwater bores within the Auckland region, covering both public and private entities.

Specifically, I am seeking the following information:

A comprehensive list of all wells and groundwater bores in the Auckland region, including but not limited to those used for municipal, agricultural, industrial, and private residential purposes.

Details on the location and depth of each well and groundwater bore, indicating whether these measurements pertain to the total depth or the water level depth, if applicable.

The results of any water quality testing conducted on these wells and groundwater bores, including the dates of testing, parameters tested, and the outcomes of such tests. I am particularly interested in data related to water safety, contamination levels, and compliance with health standards.

I understand that some of this information may be held in confidence for various reasons. However, I ask that the Auckland Council consider the public interest in making this data accessible, especially concerning environmental management, public health, and safety considerations.

Publicly Available Information

o State of the Environment (SOE) reports contain statistical data
analysis on RIMU operated monitoring wells, with a focus on state and
trends for groundwater levels and groundwater quality. SOE reports are
publicly available on [1]Home - Knowledge Auckland.
o Here is the SOE landing page, with links to synthesis reports and
underlying technical reports; [2]State of the environment report -
Knowledge Auckland.
o State and trends for groundwater quality are also reported on LAWA as
Simon pointed out below; [3]www.lawa.org.nz. LAWA has easy to
understand graphical representations of trends superimposed on maps
for easy location reference.
o RIMU operate a data portal for all our groundwater monitoring sites.
The monitoring well locations, data, and metadata are available to
view and download at [4]Data - Environment Auckland.
