Evidence for repealing smoke free legislation

Merav Benaia made this Official Information request to Christopher Luxon

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Merav Benaia to read recent responses and update the status.

From: Merav Benaia

Kia ora Christopher Luxon,

Speaking to RNZ you have said that the law would have had unintended consequences including a largely untaxed black market, increased crime and issues around enforcement.

I'm asking for the evidence you have that the Smoke-free legislation you are repealing would have resulted in an increase in crime and black market. Specifically who provided this evidence and on what basis.

Ngā mihi
Merav Benaia
