Please note that the days from 25 December 2023 to 15 January 2024
(inclusive) are defined as non- working days in the Act and are not
counted in the calculation for the response due date. This may affect the
time period for responding to your request.

 

We will endeavour to respond to your request as soon as possible, and no
later than 19 January 2023, being 20 working days after the day your
request was received. If we are unable to respond to your request by then,
we will notify you of an extension of that timeframe.  If you have any

Thank you for your email of 27 November 2023 to the Ministry of Business,
Innovation and Employment (MBIE) requesting, under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following:

 

I am writing to you under the provisions of the Official Information Act 
to request any and all written communications making reference to 
'Israel,' 'Gaza,' and 'West Bank'

 

Specifically, I am interested in documents dated between the 7th of 
October and the 24th of November.

 

On 30 November 2023, you clarified your request to relate to Immigration
New Zealand only.

 

We have made a preliminary assessment of your request and have identified
that your request encompasses a large amount of material consisting of
175,103 emails, which would require MBIE staff to manually check each
email to determine whether or not they are in scope. Therefore, your
request is likely to be refused in reliance on section 18(f) of the Act as
the information requested cannot be made available without substantial
collation. This decision has not yet been made, and we would like to
consult with you about narrowing the scope of your request before doing
so.

 

Could you please narrow down your request to the specific information you
are after?

 

Please respond by 5pm Monday, 11 December 2023. If we do not receive a
response by this date, we will proceed without rescoping.
