Despite Hugh’s heroic work yesterday with the Accessible Streets printing, I’ve been advised this paper has been
deferred to DEV on 24 August.
The good news is Cabinet Office will hold onto the documents so we don’t have to print anything further.

Kia ora e HanLing,
Apologies for the delay in sending this through to you!
Attached are the tracked and clean versions of the Cab paper and some responses to the queries are in red below
We also need to update the RIS to reflect the new options in the Cabinet paper, so I will talk to Waka Kotahi about
this work and the expected timeframe of this and whether it can be done by early next week (to enable lodging on
Thursday 8 Dec).
I don’t think the RIS not being with the Office yet should be a barrier to Ministerial consultation, but let us know if this
will be an issue.

OFFICIAL
Kia ora,
I wanted to flag in advance what I expect the next two days will look like in terms of Cabinet paper finalisation and
lodgement. I’m keen to ensure we are comfortable with the process ahead as timing will be tight and I will be
lodging six (!!) Cabinet papers on behalf of the Minister myself by 10am Thursday 17 Nov.
In terms of remaining feedback, the deadline for Ministerial consultation on your draft Cabinet paper, Accessible
Streets Regulatory Package – Final Policy Decisions, is COP Wed 16 Nov. While most feedback should have come
back from the various offices, there is still the possibility further feedback could come through up until COP
tomorrow, which will require your and the Office’s review and action (where appropriate).
3
As such, I will need to ensure the policy lead(s) for your Cabinet paper is/are on cal Wednesday evening (e.g. 5 –
7pm) 16 Nov. We may not need all this time but it is crucial someone is on standby if necessary.
Ideally we will have all changes addressed by Wednesday evening, to enable lodgement later on Wednesday.
However, it is more than likely more changes/amendments will be required early Thursday morning, particularly if
the Minister and/or other relevant Ministers need to consider the revisions overnight on Wed 16 Nov.
To ensure we have changes made as early as possible on Thursday 17 Nov, I will need to ensure the policy lead(s)
for your Cabinet paper is/are on cal Thursday morning (e.g. 8 – 10am) 17 Nov.
I appreciate the above times sit outside general policy hours but given the circumstances, this will be critical to
ensure we can meet lodgement deadlines and our desire Cabinet committee timeframes. Given the high volume of
papers aiming for consideration before the end of the year, we have little leeway on seeking a later Cabinet
committee date.
In your case, Hugh, the above is slightly more relaxed as I have already lodged a final draft version in CabNet and I
do not consider we will receive much more feedback/changes from ours and the other Offices. However, as you are
well familiar, one can never know so I consider it good to send this to everyone who has a Cabinet paper for
1982
lodgement this week.
THE
If you have any questions, happy to discuss tomorrow. Thank you for all your hard work to get to this point, it is
greatly appreciated.
