Frequency of State Highway 1 cleaning and road sweeping

Maxim Barnett made this Official Information request to New Zealand Transport Agency

The request was successful.

From: Maxim Barnett

Dear New Zealand Transport Agency,

Under the OIA, I am requesting the following information:

1. How often is State Highway 1 (SH1) cleaned? By “cleaned”, I refer specifically to the litter-picking aspect. Additionally, if you could please elaborate on any reasons for this frequency and, if appropriate, whether there are plans to ever increase the frequency in order to maintain the clean, green image across New Zealand’s main state highway(s).

2. How often, if ever, are street sweepers driven along SH1 in order to undertake street sweeping of small crash debris, rubbish, and general loose stones. Again, if you could please elaborate on any reasons for this frequency and, if appropriate, whether there are plans to ever increase the frequency in order to maintain the clean, green image across New Zealand’s main state highway(s).

Yours faithfully,
Maxim Barnett
