Statement as Violence Prevention Minister
Lance O'Riley made this Official Information request to Marama Davidson
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Lance O'Riley to read recent responses and update the status.
From: Lance O'Riley
Dear Marama Davidson,
I would like to request the following information due to your role as the Minister for the Prevention of Family and Sexual Violence.
1: On 25/03/2023 you made a statement on video saying that you were the Violence Prevention Minister and that you know who causes violence in this world, this being white cis men. Please provide the information that supports this statement.
2: Please also provide the actions you have taken as a minister to develop violence prevention strategies that target problem or high risk areas of violence in New Zealand.
3: Please provide information and communications around your attendance at the protest event at Albert Park on 25/03/2023
Please note, that the ombudsman guidance on OIA request for Ministers and Agencies sets out guidelines for what constitutes information and I expect that any response to this request is answered in line with these guidelines. For avoidance of doubt, the response to this request is expected to include information that is held in traditional formats, as well as unrecorded information that is known to the minister but not yet recorded in writing.
Additionally, while this request must be responded to within 20 working days, the official guidance on timeframes clearly outlines that a decision must be made and communicated as soon as reasonably practicable. The reference to 20 working days is not the de facto goal but the absolute maximum.
With the above outlines in mind, I expect that you will be able to respond to this request as soon as possible and provide the information requested.
If for any reason this request is refused or extended, please provide a section 23 response outlining why this was the case. Further to this, if the response to this request is sent in the last day of the 20 working day deadline, please provide a section 23 response as to why the decision was made that it was not ‘reasonably practicable’ to provide the decision sooner.
Yours faithfully,
Lance O'Riley
