Kumeu College site acquisition

Marcus Cook made this Official Information request to Ministry of Education

The request was successful.

From: Marcus Cook

Dear Ministry of Education,

Previous publicly available advice was that a detailed site evaluation on the required Secondary School for Northwest Auckland (commonly referred to as Kumeu College) was due to be completed by September 2022, at which point negotiations with affected landowners "may be initiated" along with site specific due diligence.

My questions are as follow:

Has a preferred site been identified? (Yes or no is sufficient - no identifying detail is required)
Have the aforementioned negotiations commenced? If not, when are they intended to?
If negotiations are complete, when will the outcome be available?
Has the due diligence on the preferred site been commenced? How long is this expected to take?

Yours faithfully,

Marcus Cook

Tçnâ koe Marcus

Thank you for your email of 24 January 2023 to the Ministry of Education
requesting the following information:

 1. Has a preferred site been identified? (Yes or no is sufficient - no
identifying detail is required)
 2. Have the aforementioned negotiations commenced? If not, when are they
intended to?
 3. Has the due diligence on the preferred site been commenced? How long
is this expected to take?

Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982
(the Act). The Ministry’s response to your numbered questions is below.

Question 1

Yes.

Question 2

Contact has been made with the owner of the preferred site, and we are in
the early stages of commercially-sensitive negotiation.

Question 3

Initial due diligence was undertaken as part of the broader site selection
process. Further site-specific due diligence will be completed as part of
the commercial negotiations. The time taken to conclude this work varies
on a case-by-case basis and is subject to these negotiations.

Nâku noa, nâ
