Department of Internal Affairs
Kia ora,
Thank you for your email of 5 December 2022 requesting the following under
the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
“Please provide any and all communications, internal and external where
Internal Affairs has discussed or acted in using the Facebook takedown
portal to refer articles from The BFD news site.”
For all new requests under the Act that concern digital safety, we require
evidence of eligibility. Under section 12(1) of the Act, to be eligible to
request information under the Act, you must be a New Zealand citizen or
permanent resident; or a person in New Zealand.
In that context, we would appreciate if you could confirm your eligibility
under the Act by providing a copy of a New Zealand identity document (such
as a passport or driver’s licence) or by providing evidence that you are a
person in New Zealand (such as a utility bill that shows your current
name).
To safeguard your privacy, this evidence should be provided to Te Tari
Taiwhenua | the Department of Internal Affairs at
[1][email address]. We would be grateful if you could confirm
your eligibility under the Act by Friday, 16 December 2022.
Please note that if you do not provide evidence of eligibility, we will be
unable to respond to your request.
