I refer to your Official Information Act request dated 8 October 2022.

Would it be possible to please clarify the information you are after? For questions 1 - 5 - are you interested in receiving the total number of international students to apply for and receive first-round/waitlist offers to the BDS and MB ChB programmes, or, is there a particular category of admission you are interested in? The categories of admission for entry to the BDS and MB ChB programmes are the Health Sciences First Year, Graduate and Alternative categories.

We will wait to hear back from you before we continue to process your request.

Ngā mihi
Kelsey

I refer to your information request dated 8 October 2022 (clarified 25 October 2022) made under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). You have requested information in relation to entry to the University of Otago's MB ChB and BDS programmes for International Students.

The Act requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no later than 20 working days after the date your request was received. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit. We are therefore writing to notify you, pursuant to section 15A of the Act, of an extension of the time to make our decision in respect of your request, by a further 5 working days - to Tuesday 29 November 2022.

This extension is necessary because your request necessitates a search through a large quantity of information and meeting the original time limit would unreasonably interfere with our operations. We are currently working on your response, but due to the large amount of information you have requested (5 years of information per programme for each admissions category) we require some additional time to complete our response. We thank you for your patience and will endeavour to provide the information sooner if possible.

If you are not satisfied with our extension of time, you have the right to make a complaint to the Ombudsman under section 28(3) of the Act. However, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss any concerns with you first.

Ngā mihi
Kelsey
