Dear Government Communications Security Bureau,

Section 8D of the Government Communications Security Bureau Act 2003 requires the GCSB to be politically neutral. As part of this, section 8D(4) requires the Director to "consult regularly with the Leader of the Opposition for the purpose of keeping him or her informed about matters relating to the Bureau's functions under sections 8A to 8C".

I would like to request the following information under the OIA:

* On how many occasions in the past year did the Director consult
with the leader of the opposition as required by s8D(4)? For each
occasion, I would like the date, and if known, the duration of
consultation (I assume topics will be withheld under s6(a) OIA).

I would prefer to receive an electronic response. Queries about
this request will be automatically forwarded to me by the
