Actual percentage of eligible people vaccinated against Covid-19 in New Zealand

Greg Keen made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Greg Keen to read a recent response and update the status.

From: Greg Keen

Dear Ministry of Health,

On 26/02/22, 1 News reported that the official statistics providing the percentage of New Zealanders who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 only include persons who have have interacted with health services over a 12 month period, despite these figures continually being referred to as a percentage of the 'total eligible population'.

Please provide the following information.

At time of request, the total percentage of people who have received only one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine in New Zealand, including all eligible people (not excluding any people in New Zealand above the age of 5 years old for any reason other than an official vaccine exemption granted by the Ministry). Please include the actual total number of people eligible and the number of people vaccinated to demonstrate how this percentage was calculated.

At time of request, the total percentage of people who have received only two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine in New Zealand, including all eligible people (not excluding any people in New Zealand above the age of 5 years old for any reason other than an official vaccine exemption granted by the Ministry). Please include the actual total number of people eligible and the number of people vaccinated to demonstrate how this percentage was calculated.

At time of request, the total percentage of people who have received three doses of a Covid-19 vaccine in New Zealand, including all eligible people (not excluding any people in New Zealand above the age of 5 years old for any reason other than an official vaccine exemption granted by the Ministry). Please include the actual total number of people eligible and the number of people vaccinated to demonstrate how this percentage was calculated.

I would expect this information to be freely available to the Ministry, however, if there is any reason you are unable to provide these figures based on actual eligible people in New Zealand, please provide these percentages based on the total number of people who hold an NHI number.

Yours faithfully,
Greg Keen
