Dear C Hipkins (MIN),
I have questions regarding the extension that you have informed me that you have requested:
Why do you require consultation on this OIA request?
What does consultation consist of?
What are the credentials of those being consulted with and how are they proven as qualified?
How does it then assist this OIA request?
How does consultation and extension reflect benefit to public interest?
How does consultation and extension benefit non public interest (e.g. Ministerial bias)?
How is public interest measured? (Especially within the context of objective relativism vs non objective relativism, also how is that then assessed and by whom/what are their credentials?)
What does this consultation process involve and what does it look like to you?
Thank you kindly.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Jones

Dear Mr Jones
Thank you for your two emails dated 31 March 2022 in which you raise issues relating to the extension of the time frame for a decision to be made on your request made under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). There is provision in the Act to extend the timeframe for decisions to be made on requests. In respect of your request, internal consultations within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet on your request are required so that all the issues relevant to the decision can be identified and understood including ensuring that all documents within scope of your request are identified.
