I refer to your information request dated 5 February 2022 made under the Official Information Act 1982 (Act). You have requested grade breakdowns and the total number of enrolments for all 300 level Physiology papers (PHSL341, PHSL342, PHSL343, PHSL344 and PHSL345) for 2021.
Please see attached a spreadsheet that shows the information you have requested.
The University's standard practice is not to report on marks which relate to less than 5 students where we consider that such disclosure could affect an individual's privacy and wellbeing. Where the numbers are very low, there is a risk that the identity of these students could be determined/inferred, and that their personal information (i.e. their grades) could be revealed.
Accordingly, we note that where the grade is Fail D, Fail E, Fail or Aegrotat pass, if there are less than 5 students we have either grouped these students together or indicated this using "<5". We withhold this information pursuant to section 9(2)(a) of the Act.
We have also disclosed the total number of enrolments where applicable, however we have withheld ("WH") the total number of enrolments where disclosing this would disclose information that we have already withheld.
We trust that this information will be helpful.
We note your right to seek a review of these decisions via a complaint to an Ombudsman. However, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss any concerns with you first.
Ngā mihi
Kelsey
